Hello October

Tis the season for hot chocolate, jumping on leaves, and hugging cats....


.....In every state/country/planet but Texas.  Like seriously can we please get some cool weather already?  Please and thank you. 

I just got finished with my Suzuki piano teacher training (whew it was such an exhausting and fun couple of weekends), and now I'm back to normal with getting ready to start teaching and finishing up school and college stuff woohoo. 


Normal...haha...ha..ha......ha.....

I shouldn't be allowed to use that word. 


Whew.  It's been a truly crazy month so far.  And I just realized that it's been almost an entire month without posting and HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN I TELL YOU LIFE SWALLOWED ME UP AND DISAPPEARED BACK INTO THE ABYSS DRAGGING ME ALONG WITH IT. 


My most sincere apologies. 


So Halloween is coming and I don't know about you minions, but I am very much excited. 

My costume is amazing.  And I won't tell you what it is.  Hehe. 


Don't you just love Halloween?  It's one of my favorite holidays.  And not just because of candy cough.  Well maybe a little.  Well maybe a lottle. 


Reasons I love Autumn: 

• stepping on crunchy leaves
• hot apple cider that warms your hands
• icy wind that bites your nose
• soft fluffy sweaters
• boots and long socks
• the smell of pumpkins and falling leaves
• bright red and orange trees
• fires in the fireplace
• hot soup after ice skating
• running around in the leaves
• baking pies and cookies
• the days are greyer and more peaceful
• the nights are colder and more relaxing
• breathing in cold air and pretending to be a dragon
• snuggling in blankets
• long walks to soak up the cool weather

I was thinking about doing NaNoWriMo this year, but I don't think I will have the time unfortunately.  I have too much writing for school to do.  But I'm hoping to get at least a teeny bit of NaNo writing in....perhaps. 


This is going to be a short post, because I sat down to write and literally forgot every single exciting thing that ever happened to me.  So I have nothing really to say.

Speaking of tea, I love love love love cats.  Did you know that?  I feel like I need to tell everyone this.  I MUST SHOUT IT TO THE HEAVENS. 


Cats are my spirit animal.  My new life goal is to collect cats.  So if you have any spare cats you don't want, please send them all to me.  I will cherish them as my own.

Anime and ART

Let me introduce you to my latest fandom and the show that has taken over my life.

Yes, I've started watching "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (not to be confused with the movie "Avatar", please). 


I finally reached the point where enough humans had screamed at me to watch this show so I did.  You bullies....


AND I LOVE IT.  So thank you to everyone who screamed at me to watch it.  Because this show is amazing. 

It's an American anime, so I was pretty skeptical of it at first.  But not only is the animation and storytelling absolutely flawless, but it's clean and funny and interesting and the characters and character development is amazing. 


And definitely not just for kids.  Most of the people I've heard about it from were adults, and I can see why!  It actually has intricate plot and side plots and huge character development and while I think it was really created for kids, it definitely has a mature aspect that really caught my interest. 


Most of the episodes have a moral lesson that is learned by the end of it, so that's also pretty cool.  Most shows nowadays don't encourage things like that anymore, so this was pretty refreshing. 


Also did I mention it's hilarious?  And incredibly random.  Oh yeah.  My type of show.

And since this is based on Eastern philosophy and it's an anime that involves war, element benders, and a fantasy land, then of course it's going to have a lot of epic fights.  And I mean EPIC. 


I don't usually watch cartoons, mostly because they tend to insult my intelligence, but this one is definitely one worth watching. 


And because of my latest habit of binging this show, I actually got into a Drawing Mood!  And since those moods happen every 4 years on the day when the moon is in a certain position and the stars are aligned, I actually drew something. 


I attempted to draw....manga. 


A friend and I decided to draw ourselves if we were manga, if we lived in a perfect anime world where we looked perfect and everything.  So here is my Self-Portrait as a Manga Character:

Yeah, I know, it's very generic.  But yeah.  This is how I would look as manga. Perhaps grinning a little more insanely and planning world takeover with my army of armadillos and evil penguins, but yeah.  You get the gist. 


Now I must go.  I will try to blog more often, but I can't make any promises!

Introvertness.

So I went to the store tonight with my mother.  My mother asked me to ask a cashier how much something was.  And it was in that moment that I realized the extent of my Introvertness. 

Do you have any idea how terrifying it is to ask a cashier anything? 


I don't mind checking out, but going out of my way to find someone who isn't busy and ask them how much something is....kill me now, please.  It's quite scary. 


I go to stores because I want food, not human interaction. 


So to comfort my terrified soul, I had to get ice cream.  Or maybe two.

Ah, the joys of being an Introvert. 


(Just to clarify, I ended up not having to talk to the cashier because I am a stubborn person who is afraid of talking to strangers sometimes.  But you know, I needed ice cream to sooth my ruffled soul so.)


I mean, some days I LOVE people.  I will talk to strangers, I will fangirl with strangers, I will become instant best friends with strangers.  Then I have my non-people days and if you so much as look at me I will hide and cry.  Or hiss at you. 


Today was one of those LEAVE ME ALONE JUST GIVE ME A BOOK AND NETFLIX AND ICE CREAM AND I WON'T HURT YOU days.  Weeks.  Months. 


I'm an Extroverted Introvert.  Or a Hermit Who Sometimes Likes to be Social When it Involves Food or Books. 

Anyway.  I've been so busy with school and Life and more school and volunteering at our local Catholic radio station (which is super fun but EXHAUSTING) and of course, more Life.  I had to take calls at the radio station and I accidently said "Awesomeness" to one caller and she laughed at me and it was embarrassing.  And I'm not going to tell you how many times I muddled up my words. 

 
Shhhhhh......


I mean I get terrified at the prospect of talking to strangers over the phone.  It takes me a long time to prepare for calling strangers, especially if it's to ask a question.  It helped a little bit that we got to wear a fancy headset and mic and be all official with computers and forms and stuff. 


But guess who the first call went to?  Guess who was the first person to answer.  Me.  Moi.  Yours truly.  I almost died.  I was hoping so much that someone else's phone would ring first so I could watch them and learn because I had so no idea of what I was doing.  So of COURSE I was the first call.

So I discovered Panic! At the Disco's cover of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' AND I AM IN LOVEEEEEEEEE I TELL YOU.  I am a sheltered child, so I only discovered the original song like a month ago, and since then it has been like my favorite song ever.  I mean, come on.  It amuses me so much.  Like it doesn't make much sense, but it's so amusing and it makes my ears happy so.


BUT P!ATD MADE IT EVEN BETTER.  So I am officially happy with life. 


Then the TOP cover of 'Cancer' came out and all the happiness drained away because once again Twenty One Pilots succeeded in making me into a Burrito of Sadness with their beautiful sad music.

Haiku is such an interesting form of poetry.  It has a rhythm of syllables: 5-7-5.  Haiku is written to evoke images, feelings, and as my thought process is almost completely in images, I can't help but love it.

After a long weekend of the Japanese-based Suzuki philosophy and piano, I decided the best way to sum it would be by combining it into my favorite mode of expression, poetry.  And what better way to acknowledge my respect and appreciation for the Suzuki method than with a haiku?

Poetry and music go hand in hand, don't you think?  I believe that poetry is as close as we can get to translating the language of music into words. 

In music and poetry, we draw the emotion out from our very souls.  They're the most intimate of art forms. 

Music is the language of the soul.  Words are the language of the mind.  Poetry is the link between the soul and the mind.

My bloggie has a new look!

I decided there was too much.........pink.  Honestly I don't even know why it was that color to begin with.  That was back when I had no idea how to work Blogger and I was a helpless confused potato who didn't know how to do anything.

In other words, I figured out how to change the format and I'm immensely proud of myself.

It's ridiculous.  I'm usually quite good with tech, but when it comes to simple things like this, I'm stumped.  Go figure. 

So now all of you gentlemen out there won't be embarrassed by reading a pink blog. 

Anyway.  Enough of that. 

Now I have a small announcement!

I won't be blogging as much, because Life just decided to karate chop me in the back with Responsibility and School That Needs To Be Finished So I Can Graduate Already *cries* and Piano and Classes and Driving and Food and Sleep and....

You get the gist of it.  I won't be blogging very often until Life calms down. 

But I'll be answering comments so I won't be totally dead. 

OH YES AND I KNOW YOU ALL ARE DYING TO HEAR ABOUT MY TEACHER TRAINING.....

So you'll all have to wait.  Sorry.  Can't be helped.  But it was awesome and exhausting, so just let that suffice until I come back. 

Now I must go.  I really want a pickle and I need to hunt one down because I have a cold and somehow that makes me want pickles.

In which I nearly have a panic attack over adulthood

Guys.  Today is the first day of September. 


It's September. 


What happened to August????  Where did it even go??


I feel like I blinked and summer just blew away.  Does anyone else feel like that?

Ugh that summer went by fast.  Now it's almost fall and I CAN'T TAKE THIS. 


Anyway.  I shouldn't even be blogging right now.....I have More Important Things that I should be doing, but I don't feel like doing them right now.  #procrastinationftw


So this weekend I will be taking my piano teacher training course and I'M QUITE NERVOUS, MY DEAR POTATOES. 


I will be the youngest one there and will have to pretend like I know what I'm doing and be an ADULT.  With strangers.  Who DO know what they're doing. 

I've been giving myself pep talks like "YOU CAN DO THIS" and "YOU ARE SUPERIOR TO THESE PUNY MORTALS" and "GO IN THERE AND RULE THEM LIKE THEY WERE MEANT TO BE RULED" and then I have to tell my Loki side to quiet down because my Loki side is not really helping matters. 

No, no you don't, Loki side.  Just concentrate on surviving this and if you could possibly Survive Like A Boss then I won't complain but please.  No Evil Overlord Takeover. 


So I usually end up turning to my Enjolras side instead because Loki side is always being irrational. 

Much better.


I don't like adulting.  It's so much work!  I'd much rather just curl up in my bed all day and eat cake and watch Odd Squad.  Because admit it.  Odd Squad is the best kid's show ever.  I LOVE IT SO MUCH. 


If I was an animal, I'd be a cat.  Because cats are always falling asleep everywhere and being lazy and having mood shifts for no reason and they hiss at things. 


Yes, I hiss at things too.  It's how I deal with Life Problems.
